Strengthening connections

A one-week retreat
to recover from illness, stress, burn out and to find ones way back into the present

When?

24th to 31st July 2022

Who is it with?

Charlot Buschgens (MA eurythmy therapist) and Renatus Derbidge (Dr. rer. medic.) are supporting your individual process to convalescence, deal with a crisis or the search for new impulses in life.

Part of the process will be Iona as a place of inspiration, Mull, as a place of intense life forces, Staffa as an ancient site of initiation and the group as a safe place to articulate ones situation and to be heard.
You take from the offered program as much as you need. Experiences in nature will reflect on your situation and can be deepened in the evening sessions.
A gentle weaving between individual retreat and group activities, nature and a homely accommodation in beautiful surroundings as well as the rich spiritual background of the Scottish western isles stimulate to find a new balance between perceiving the new and initiative.

Minimum 4, maximum 8 participants in 3 holiday-apartments.

The Program

After breakfast at your accommodation we start together at 9 a.m. with activating speech exercises and softly awakening eurythmy.

During the week we will have three day trips to healing places and historically significant sites of initiation:
  • Iona, the holy island of the Celts and Celtic Christians with a presence of soft and mild transforming quality.
  • Staffa, the island of the «natural basalt cathedral» the druid initiation cave «Fingals Cave».
  • The stone circle of Lochbuie and impressive standing stones - ancient role models of being upright and for a hierarchy-free social order.
Excursions include observation exercises.
  • The days without a day trip can be used to explore the beautiful surroundings on your own or to simply rest and to use the time for a session of eurythmy therapy.
In the evenings at 19:30 the whole group meets for a seminar and reflection circle. You will learn more about the spiritual background of Iona, Staffa and the Western Mysteries. We will also reflect the days events. We will be using the community building method "reversed cult" (Umgekehrter Kultus from Rudolf Steiner).

At the end of the week we will have an "Inspiration walk" on Iona including a harvesting session with the group.
This is a very powerful and satisfying presencing method that helps to incorporate the new into the daily life.

Facilitators:

Charlot Buschgens
(M. A: Eurythmy Therapist)

Picture
Charlot Buschgens taught at the eurythmy training in Berlin, until she moved to the Isle of Mull in 2018. She has been involved in varies artistic eurythmy projects in Stourbridge, UK and in Germany (“Märchenensemble” Stuttgart) with many performances around the world. She did a MA in Eurythmy Therapy. Which included work in a clinic for pain and cancer patients. Her master`s thesis was about a case study in eurythmy cancer therapy. Her therapeutic approach is to help harmonise imbalances, to become centred and grounded within the own body and self. She specialised in accompanying people with cancer diagnosis in all stages in an individualist way.

She lives on the Isle of Mull on a small croft near Fionnphort from where one can take the ferry to the beautiful little sister island Iona. She experiences Mull as a rough and true place to face reality. Nothing remains unseen, everything in one’s own life and biography comes to the surface to be recognized and if needed transformed. Wild and beautiful landscapes in always changing weather help to face and encounter these. Whereas the soft and hilly landscape of Iona, always surrounded by the deep blue of the sea rather transmits a feeling of divine connection, a strong sense of unconditional love, peace, and acceptance.

Charlot is Dutch and mother of two daughters.
